Today we’d like to introduce you to William Green.
William, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am one of six siblings born to a Baptist preacher and a choir director/singer. I recall coming home from church on Sunday’s and being able to recreate the music that I heard at church having access to a piano and organ at our home. I took lessons from several church pianist and organist during my teenage years. I learned Music Theory and Composition while in high school. Upon graduating from high school, I went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. Where I studied jazz for two years. I then went to Georgia State University, where I enrolled in the business of music department where I furthered my studies in Commercial Music. I then formed my band/group known as Magic Dream where I wrote and performed original songs. I then went to tour and perform with numerous acclaimed artists such as Peabo Bryson, Cameo, and Jennifer Holiday, to name a few.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a creative musical artist. I create music through the usage of playing the keyboards, as well as being a songwriter, producer, arranger, and vocalist.
My music is for the purpose of healing the mind, body, and spirit of those who listen to the music. My hope is that people will be transformed to think and inspire for a better world through hearing my music. You should know that my music is not Smooth Jazz, it is ‘soul’ jazz.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
The biggest challenge that artist face today is to not to forget the purpose behind their musical gifts.
